The reviews you are about to read we’re taken right out of the guest log on the Yacht Midnight Sun. At the end of each charter we have a social evening, a photo review of the week and I ask all of the guests/friends to write down in their own words what the experience was to them.

"September 2021 was our trip of a lifetime coming south from Juneau to Seattle along the inside passage. We boarded the Midnight Sun to find a sweet welcome complete with excellent charcuterie and friendly faces. The boat is comfortable and thoughtfully designed and we were delighted with our stateroom and the common areas. With so many experiences, it’s hard to capture the essence of this trip in a simple paragraph. I’ve never before caught a fish and had it expertly cooked for dinner the same day. Cap knew exactly how to time & position the boat to witness a whale breech between us and the sunset. There were days when we did not see another boat, but saw nature at her finest. The photos we took still leave me breathless. We were enriched by the knowledge of the crew, the memories and new friendships we hold dear. Thank You Captain Eric!"

We are so honored to be your first guests on the Midnight Sun! We have so many incredible memories this week, I don’t know where to start. Day 1: Successful halibut fishing!! Day 2: Brown Bears sighting and Jim’s 1st SUP attempt: ) Day 3: So many Orca and humpbacks Whales. Day 4: The amazing meals and the kayaking adventure. Day 5: Cap spotted the breaching humpback. Day 6: The early morning cruise through the Tracy Arm Fjord to the Glaciers were just breathtaking! Day 7: I guess all good things must come to an end… The best thing is that we have 4 new amazing friends, and you all are forever a part of our story.”

Day one: successful halibut fishing AND beautiful weather!

Day two: brown bear sighting and Jim’s first attempt at SUP!

Day three: TONS of orca and humpbacks!! Caught SO MANY rockfish!!

Day four: Susan’s biscuits! Amazing kayaking, Also went to the hatchery and had a hilarious ride back to the boat in the tender ��

Day five: Dad spotted the breaching whale!! What an amazing experience that was. AND Susan’s cheesecake!!

Day six: Tracy Arm, What a magnificent Fjord and Sawyer Glacier! Kayaking and paddleboarding at the glacier! Another Orca sighting and a STUNNING sunset!!

Day seven: Well - I guess all good things must come to an end… the best thing is that we have four new amazing friends. And you are all forever a part of our story."

Mine will be short. It was great, you were great, the ship is great. My fishing prowess continues unchallenged - never hook by the mouth if you don’t need to.

Clearly the bears and the whales were my highlight (save Eric’s gourmet meals). Each of you was professional but personable in every way. Your enthusiasm, especially the irrepressible Hannah, made every activity more enjoyable.

We will sing your praises wherever we go, and with Risa and Denny doing that, it will surely help.

May you have fair winds and calm seas (unless you wish otherwise) going forward. “

“Captain Eric, Katie, Adam and Ryan - Seriously - Best Trip Ever! This one goes down in the books! Every time we thought we’d seen and done it all, ,there was more. The whales, bears, orcas, fishing, hiking, talking to the locals in Tenakee warm Springs, kayaking… the list goes on. Katie- we enjoyed your eternal optimism and your laughter is contagious! Adam, I don’t know how I’m supposed to go home and cook for my family after all those amazing meals… and snacks! Unbelievable! Ryan, you have the patience of a saint and you are the most fun deckhand. And Cap- somehow you managed to engage 3 teenagers and they all had the time of their lives. This was the best trip with the best crew on the best boat. This won’t be the last time you see us. Can’t wait to keep in touch. Thank you for everything!!”

“Capt Eric, Adam, Katie,and Ryan- We had a wonderful time in Southeast AK! The Humpbacks! The glaciers!@ The halibut named “Barn Door”! The food was fantastic and beautifully presented, Katie’s laugh and service uplifting and Ryan’s help with the kayaks, fishing gear, etc first class. We will treasure this trip and we will be back! Alas, this trip is coming to an end, so we will say goodbye for now."

We were looking for the perfect way to celebrate so many important life events for our family and your hospitality made the dream the reality, thank you! For so many things: Adam amazing food, beyond expectations. Katie- infectious good humor, always there with a ready smile and the right words. Ryan- incredibly competent with herring and untangling windswept lines, and with unexpected jokes (some of them good) 🙂 Cap- you made us feel like family, so willing to share your experience, conversation and literally steering the boat to show us “firsts” for all of us. “Dear Captain Eric and Adam, Katie and Ryan,

Thank you for a wonderful trip of a lifetime! Our goals were for whales, wildlife, fishing and glaciers.. And as John would say all of those were “ticked’. Your warm welcome on to your yacht was a great way to start off our adventure. Day one we already had whales and bears and the gents had landed some salmon. Each day continued with new adventures. Kayaking, waterfalls, “warm” springs, whales and even a deer! We each had a different highlight. But I know our slow venture into Le Conte glacier was the best for me and Charles! So surreal. Amazing sights and sounds. A deer on an iceberg. Blue calving glacier. Photos and moons on the forward deck.

We enjoyed the fishing, the views ,and the best of all your warm hosting and guiding. I’ve never been a “take a pic of your meal” person… but Adam’s meals- made photos a must! I only wish the photos could capture the fabulous flavors.

Katie was the ultimate hostess! We loved her smiles and laughs. She instantly put all of us at ease. We felt we were one of the family.

Ryan’s attention to our team’s fishing needs and everything else were great! Never anything but a smile on his face and the rest of the crew.

And Captain, thank you so much for sharing your wheelhouse with us. I’m sure you didn’t realize all of us would be there so much! Sharing your knowledge and stories were so wonderful. Also thanks for the photos! We will share ours with you all.

We didn’t want this vacation/adventure to end. Today the sun is shining, the air is warm and I’m sitting here listening to everyone chatting up like old mates.

As you said we leave here as friends.

Thank you so so much for being so welcoming and for taking such incredible care of us. The food was insane - I’m leaving 10 lbs heavier than I boarded because I couldn’t stop eating! Right before I got on the Midnight Sun I read a John Muir quote about how “you shouldn’t visit Alaska as a young man, because no where else in the world will compare” - or something about it ruining the rest of the world for you, and for me that rings so true. What a beautiful part of the world, and what a fabulous way to see it with such fabulous company. Thank you for the greatest experience of my life - I’ll never forget it, or how fab you guys are!”

“What an amazing journey this has been. For someone who doesn’t do boats, I’d do it again and more! I am in awe of your beautiful country and your friendship has been overwhelming. Next time I’ll see an Orca, but with everything else and perfect weather, I’ll forgive them for not turning up.

“What an unbelievable journey that the crew has taken us on. Seven days in pristine fjords and bays seeing stunning wildlife and majestic scenery. I don’t believe I came in with any idea about hat we would be seeing and experiencing, but I do know that any expectations anyone else boards The Midnight Sun with, will have them blown out of the water with the reality of such an unique and wonderful experience. The food is 6 star, the crew is beyond amazing and the experience is once in a lifetime. We had a Halibut of a great time. In captain Eric's words, “You arrive as guests and leave as friends.”

The places and the wildlife made for an incredible experience, but the crew has amplified that 10 fold and made it once in a lifetime. “To Captain Eric, Eric the Younger, Katie and Adam- What a spectacular trip! All four of you were excellent hosts and made the trip so special. As nerdy birders, we really enjoyed Captain Eric’s knowledge of the birds and ability to find them for us. Even a tufted puffin! (PUFFIN!!) The food - how to praise the food? Varied, delicious, surprising, abundant, creative…and all wonderful. I don’t think any of us realized the extent to which we had signed up for a week of fine dining at its best.

We were thrilled to catch and eat crab, even if the halibut evaded us this time. (Fortunately Adam had plenty in reserve.) Everything about fishing in Alaska differs from what we know, so even Ross, not traditionally an avid angler, enjoyed watching the fisherfolk at work. The trip was everything we hoped for and more. Whales, orcas, and calving glaciers, oh my! Truly a top notch trip!

Thank you!! …for showing us your home state and adopted nomadic home state. I will be talking about this trip non-stop for years to come. I loved the birds, the bears, the banter and the… brotherhood? (I had to stick with the “B” theme). A crazy good time and I hope our paths cross again!
